Course FAQ's and Resources

Coaching is, simply put, a tool for personal, leadership or organizational development and growth.  It is a discovery methodology used to uncover answers to existing issues that are hindering the ability to move forward, improve and achieve goals.

Executive Coaching leans toward a specific set of abilities.  These abilities are crucial for the success of any senior executive who might be facing challenges in running an organization.  The key focuses are:  Does s/he have a strong Business Strategic Vision, or the ability to see “the big picture?”  Are his/her Personal Leadership skills strong enough to guarantee the loyalty and the support of a motivated team?  How will s/he utilize People Development Skills to enable the adequate delegation and foster the creation of an ambitious and demanding team?  In a single (and my favorite) word: Can s/he empower? Is s/he a clear and concise Communicator?  This is a key capacity in conveying the right message to your team.  Is s/he willing to delve into Self Analysis and investigate and work on his/her own limitations and growth opportunities to ensure efficiency?

We have walked the walk, talked the talk and now walk the talk each and every day.  We help individuals and organizations transform life and business goals into profitable reality.
We will work through the decision-making process together, guiding and enabling you to embrace the ability to choose, purposefully.  Because we have been in your shoes, we have an unsurpassed knowledge of organization dynamics with a strong emphasis on discovering the best solution for long lasting impact.

Metanoia Inc. is skilled in providing online education programs for individuals and organizations via on-line, asynchronous adult learning, mentor coaching and assessment competencies. The hallmark of our coaching and educational acumen is our first-hand business knowledge and coaching experience through prior leadership roles.  This experience will provide the ICF with a deeper level of knowledge than simply the process of a self-paced course.

Our philosophy is based upon the foundation of life-long learning is a priority.  And, excellent teaching requires a commitment to and continued practice of active lifelong learning.  We believe that educators who are actively engaged in learning will actively and effectively engage their students.  We believe in empowering others, individuals as well as organizations, to deep dive and discover who they are, what their strengths are and how they can develop into the best version of themselves. The overriding principle we aim for in the classroom setting is interactive, inclusive and collaborative.  This is based on three principles:

  1. An interactive and inclusive classroom setting
  2. Providing clarity in the presentation of coursework and learning objectives
  3. Clearly defining the expectations of the instructors and students

An Interactive and Inclusive Classroom

The goal as well as mission in each of the courses taught is that each student, observer and/or participant has the ability to interact, share their voice and be heard.  Together, we will develop a picture of best practices as a future coach. We will also establish a clear path to accomplish all interactive learning goals and objectives.  This is accomplished through questioning, imagery, ability to engage in two-way dialog and presented in with clarity.  All students have a voice and all voices are to be heard.

Clarity in Presentation

Leadership development, organizational design and strategy are a constantly changing and evolving environment. Within the business world (and life) – change is constant and unavoidable.  As real-world case studies are presented, the course methodology is to dissect each situation with three core questions that will provide any coach with clarity:

  1. Where is the business / leader at the present time (currently)?
  2. What is their vision of the future (where do they want to be) – current success track or visible improvement issues
  3. What is the plan necessary to move them from the present state to the future vision?

As we work through these scenarios, the students will learn and understand the development methodologies in coaching leaders and organizations through change, overcoming obstacles, addressing self-limiting beliefs and experiencing the ever-amazing ah-ha moments.  Coaching is not mentoring, advising, guiding or suggesting.  Coaching is empowering others to discover the answers they already have through powerful questioning.

Clearly Defining Expectations

At the beginning of each course, the students are given, through dialog, a clearly defined set of expectations that will serve to enhance their interactive and inclusive learning experience. They are:

  • Honor their fellow classmates by being present and on time for each class
  • Treat everyone with respect and without judgment (sometimes the conversations may be difficult or challenging)
  • Come prepared with the notes, handouts and lecture topic for each class
  • Participate
  • Be present – physically and emotionally, for the duration of the class

In order for the students to become world class coaches and/or running best in class organizations, they will experience the course from the ground level as well as the twenty thousand feet above the tree’s version; hands-on and big picture are both necessary to accomplish their future coaching, leadership and organizational design goals.

They are encouraged to create a conversation group – Zoom, WhatsApp, etc. allowing them to build their leadership network and creating a co-creative learning environment. This also serves to support and enhance the course philosophy of interaction and inclusion. It aids in broadening their viewpoints and expanding their horizons for collaboration.  At the beginning of each class, time is reserved to review the prior weeks’ subject, discuss their at home assignment and share in their successes, accomplishments, or difficulties. Through this review process – consistently each week – we are able to gauge and assess their learning progression and comprehension of the subject.  They will need to have full mastery if they elect to apply for credentials an accrediting body such as the ICF.

At Metanoia and Metanoia  Academy we celebrate diversity and we respect the unique path that all  people have chosen.  We know that promoting diversity, equity, inclusion,  justice and belonging in our organization, the community and our classrooms will have a  positive impact.
